B&W''s waste-to-energy innovation includes more than 155 years of experience in designing, supplying and servicing some of the world''s cleanest, most efficient energy and environmental systems. الأَبْجَدِيَّة العَرَبِيَّة 中文 Español Français
MOSJ is a government system for environmental monitoring of Svalbard, Jan Mayen and the nearby sea areas and presents environmental information that is strategically important for politicians and administration. Relevant research results and monitoring data from a number of Norwegian institutions are reported to this system.
Burning biomass for energy generates significant pollution at the smokestack, and a major expansion would derail global commitments to a 1.5 degree pathway. And proposals to offset biomass emissions with carbon capture technology as BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage) are unproven, expensive and unlikely to scale effectively.

Over a gigawatt of bids from battery storage project developers have been successful in the first-ever competitive auctions for low-carbon energy capacity held in Japan. A total 1.67GW of projects won contracts, including 32 battery energy storage system (BESS) totalling 1.1GW and three pumped hydro energy storage (PHES) projects totalling 577MW.
From biomass combustion to gasification, B&W offers solutions for a wide spectrum of biomass fuels, including: wood chips, pellets, saw dust, wheat straw, barley, rice straw, bark and biogas. Biomass is CO2 neutral, which significantly reduces environmental impact. And our multi-fuel technology is the result of decades of experience with various renewable energy fuels.
Risk of Drought Impact . The indicator shows the risk of having impacts from a drought, by taking into account the exposure and socio-economic vulnerability of the area, with particular focus on the agricultural impacts.
The biomass of all vascular plants is aggregated and specified as the average number of grams per square metre. (Cite these data: Norwegian Polar Institute (2024). Biomass of vascular plants in Sassendalen. Environmental monitoring of Svalbard and Jan Mayen (MOSJ).

The program''s mission is also to interpret the data to describe the development of the environment on Svalbard and Jan Mayen, and to advise the administration on the need for action, research or improved monitoring of the areas. MOSJ is a part of government environmental monitoring in Norway.

Renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) Greenvolt is close to bringing a 5MW/5MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) online at its biomass plant in Coimbra, Portugal. The firm is in the final
As the ocean currents meet around the island, air masses and air currents also converge, producing strong winds and a high wave energy along the coast of the island. From Iceland the North-Atlantic Midoceanic Ridge stretches NE as the Jan Mayen Ridge.

Biomass, in the form of compressed wood pellets, is a low-carbon replacement for coal that can be used at power stations to generate renewable energy such as electricity and heat. What is Biomass? Biomass is organic matter.
Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) is the process of capturing and permanently storing carbon dioxide (CO 2) from biomass as well as residues from agriculture, forestry and wood products industries. Energy-dense forms of biomass, such as compressed wood pellets, enable bioenergy to be generated on a much larger scale.
Energy-dense forms of biomass, such as compressed wood pellets, enable bioenergy to be generated on a much larger scale. Fuels like wood pellets can also be used as a substitute for coal in existing power stations .
MOSJ (Environmental Monitoring of Svalbard and Jan Mayen) is an environmental monitoring system and part of the Norwegian Government''s environmental monitoring in Norway. The site provides historical climate records (ocean, land, and atmosphere), including temperature precipitation, snow, permafrost and sea-ice.
Emissions - Land Use / Burning - Biomass. Svalbard and Jan Mayen Islands. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from burning of biomass consist of methane and nitrous oxide gases from biomass combustion of forest land cover classes ''Humid and Tropical Forest'' and ''Other Forests'', and of methane, nitrous oxide, and carbon dioxide gases from
Its indirect economic contribution came to £117 million, as the region''s biomass industry became increasingly important. Find out about another major UK port that has been transformed thanks to renewable energy. How does biomass get shipped to the UK? Read the story of one of the US ports sending wood pellets to UK shores.
Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) is one of the most important fields in the energy sector today. The technology''s ability to capture CO 2 from the electricity generation process and turn it into a revenue source before it can enter the atmosphere means it''s attracting significant investment and research.
